It has all the goodness from the Obsidian; sanwa buttons and stick, turbo if you want, tournament mode, and a solid, sturdy case that won't slide on a desk or your lap.

The new button layout on the Pearl feels a little more natural than the Obsidian's. And the cord door isn't as hard to open and close as the Obsidian, tho still is a tight fit.

I ordered the pearl because I had a Carbon, and had tried an Obsidian that a friend owns. I preferred the bigger body, and needed a stick that I could use on PS4, I also wanted to try the different button layout, Overall it's a good choice for anyone thinking about buying a fightstick. I rate it 4 stars though because the door on mine that keeps the cord compartment shut is defective, it's loose when closed and depending on how you hold the stick, will either lay flush, or have a gap which detracts from the look of an otherwise beautiful looking arcade stick.
